Swine Flu

For the past week, the swine flu has become a popular topic among many people. It came suddenly, a highly contagious disease that affects the respiratory system. In United States, New York has the highest number of affected so far, but luckily none had been fatal. It is discovered that most of the affected has been to Mexico, where the disease supposedly originated from. In Mexico, there are several cases of this swine flu that led to death. That is why a lot of health organizations are now sending precautions and warnings to people to keep them safe from this disease.

To learn more about the swine flu, you can visit this
link, a fact sheet from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I just hope that everyone will be safe and please take precaution before it is too late. Wear a mask, wash your hands, do whatever to keep you safe. Prevention is always better than cure.

A 30% good and 70% bad day...

The Good

I walked toward the entrance of the vegetarian restaurant. I stood there...waiting. (Today's my first day at work at a new Japanese restaurant. I am waiting for someone to come pick me up to work at the designated place). Suddenly, a girl walked toward me from across the street. As she came closer, I realized she's my classmate whom I had not seen for five years. Then she asked me, "Are you going to work at *blank* restaurant?" And I was like, "What a small world! Yeah!" And then we started catching up on old times. I was quite happy to know that someone I was gonna work with someone I knew, so things should be a tad easier. Never did I thought...

The Bad

As I reach the restaurant, I can see that it was a small one. About fifty seats overall, and a few seats at the sushi bar. No carpet, so no vacumming. The dining area looks pretty good, nice atmosphere and lighting. BUT the kitchen is a mess. And the system too. The corridors are so narrow that it is hard for two people to pass each other, much more when we are carrying food in or out of the kitchen. The worst thing is the drinks are located along the narrow corridor. This make things even messier. Glasses and china easily fell to the floor because of the narrow corridor. Waiters pass each other all the time and I think it is very dangerous as some of the food items are hot. Another thing is the salad, which uses up to five ingredients. You need so many steps just to make a salad which is bullshit. Some of the ingredients can even be mixed beforehand to save trouble. Lastly, I made a mistake today and one of the waiters, (all of them are pretty nice except this one who thinks he is the best) began to yakkety-yak-yak. I was like, "Who the hell doesn't make a mistake before?"

All in all, this is a bad place to work IMO but I am still gonna need to work there for a bit (an undisclosable reason). I don't know if it is me or I am not used to the place yet, but so far so bad for me. Hope that everything will be well in days to come.

The Shooting Star

I stood on top of the grassy hill,
Trembling slightly with a chill,

I looked up at the darkened sky,
Feeling a gentle breeze brush by...

She sat on her bed near the window,
Cluthing tightly at the wet pillow,
Tears streamed down from her eyes,
Feeling sad, beacause she promised not to cry...

Just then, a shooting star flashed by,
It brightened up the darkened sky,
I saw the star as it went by,
And at that time, her tears began to dry...

Even though we are far away,
Love is strong, I should say,
Whatever sadness that comes your way,
I will love you, protect you, come what may...

Note:
This is a poem I wrote some time ago about the idea of a long distance relationship. In my opinion, the number one cause for breakups among couples is long distance. Therefore, I wish that every couple can withstand the trials of a long distance relationship. Always remember, love is the strongest thing of all.

Because of competitiveness, you will lose the happiness in playing."

有看这部连续剧的,你们觉得呢? 看完的感受如何?

Clueless Future

Yesterday, I finally received my OPT card. It is really time to get serious and start looking for a decent job. These past few months while waiting for the card, I worked part-time in a restaurant. In the meantime, I applied for quite a number of jobs but haven't really got any luck. Is the unemployment rate really affecting US non-citizens? Or am I not trying really hard?

I graduated with a Masters degree but I have yet to get any real office experience. I really regret that I did not get any internships during my schooling time. Now, I am experience-less, and fresh out of the oven. What can be worse than this? Oh well, I guess I cannot see my destination down this long stretch of road for now. Hope luck and time can help me.

*continues praying and wishing...*

MyBrute - Motion Twins' latest creation

In early April this year, Motion Twin created an online browser action game called 'MyBrute', which has gained the popularity of many users within a few weeks of launch. There are no user actions, no money, and the avatar depends entirely on a random system.

When I first played it, I found it quite interesting as you have the ability to customize your Brute, which is kinda random too. After that, you can enter the arena to fight against other Brutes. Your Brute skills and items are totally random and you have a limit of 3 fights per day (I am not sure if there is a limit increase or any specials because I am only Level 5). When you have selected your opponent, the fight will start. The battle is random and it is quite an eye candy watching the flash characters go at each other. At the end, you gain experience whether you win or not and gain levels with new skills and items.

All in all, if you are interested you can check it out at
MyBrute. Good luck and have fun pummeling each other!

Luna Online

Greetings all, let's welcome the latest MMORPG in North America, Luna Online!

Yesterday, I received an email regarding their open Beta which I am kind of excited. I downloaded the client, installed the game, and are waiting now for 7pm EST for the server to start. For those of you who didn't know, Luna Online is a cute game which is already quite popular in the Asian market. It is a free-to-play Korean MMORPG (Koreans are really good at making MMOs, aren't they? ^_^) with chibi characters that can fight, grind, complete quests, go on dates, and even own a family farm.
Sounds interesting?

Check the video below and their homepage for more information regarding this game. In the meantime, I will check out the game for myself and will update with more pictures and other info. Have fun guys!

Blackle?!

Today, I stumbled across a website called Blackle which I found to be the same as Google, except the colors are opposite. I did more research and here's what I found.

On January 2007, a blogger wrote an article saying that Google can help save a lot of energy if their homepage background color is black instead of white. The color white uses up more energy (especially for CRT monitors). So by using black, a significant amount of energy can be saved.

This idea is pretty interesting but honestly, who would have the initiative to use Blackle instead of Google. I mean, Google has already been a household name. Even I set Google as my homepage whenever I start IE. So the question boils down to one, "Will the energy-saving Blackle be successful?" Only time will tell.

A Blog is Born

Hi all, welcome to my blog. I don't know this is blog number ?? for me as I have created many many blogs but sadly, not even one that I managed to upkeep. I wonder does any of you face the same problem too?

Maybe a blog is like a toy. A favorite toy that you wanted to play with all day. But once you grow tired of it, you tend to cast it aside. Well, I really hope that I can show some commitment to this blog and of course I need the support of other people out there like you readers.

In this blog, I will try to blog a wide range of topics that I hope are interesting in the world out there. I hope you guys will like it. And lastly, I will definitely try my best to upkeep and make this blog as interesting as possible.
